Circular cooperation with Alfa Laval shared at COP26

At the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, Alfa Laval and Stena Recycling shared their circular collaboration as an example of how companies can work across the value chain to create circular solutions.

A new circular partnership
Alfa Laval and Stena Recycling launched the collaboration in April 2021, a business model that develops new circular values in heat exchangers. The industry can upgrade to more energy-efficient heat exchangers through an exchange program, while older ones can be phased out and recycled. By using more efficient technology and high recycling rates, the climate impact can be significantly reduced.
Recycled heat exchangers become new products
In this cooperation, Stena Recycling takes care of older and inefficient heat exchangers, and the recycling process enables up to 100% recovery. The solution also prevents a secondary market where inefficient heat exchangers are distributed to countries that can continue to cause more energy losses and carbon emissions.
The recycled heat exchangers become quality raw materials that are also used in new Alfa Laval products. In this way, the raw material stays in the cycle. Energy-efficient heat exchangers replace inefficient heat exchangers, and new heat exchangers save costs and climate impact.
Large quantities of heat exchangers are used to provide heating and cooling in industries and other businesses.
